Until we learn the scope of repairs and get a start date, Longmont Masters is not in a great place looking forward. I guess we need to be thankful that the weather has been mild so far.

Just a friendly reminder that there is NO MASTERS WORKOUT on Monday, September 3. It’s Labor Day, folks. Normal schedule for the rest of the week.
Sure, the sun is coming up later. We might need to give up a lane (or two) to lap swimmers who show up. But the weather is holding. The water temp has been all over the place this week, but was in a great spot Friday morning.
I talked with Tabitha this morning about the morning schedule at Sunset. Keep in mind that Sunset will be open for lap swimming EVERY weekday — not just the mornings that masters are swimming. The gate should be open at 5:45 am to allow swimming at 6:00 am. That means you can swim on Tuesday or Thursday mornings.
A few of us were present during last week’s city council study session (8/21) to speak in support of a new pool. Unfortunately, the council got bogged down in discussions of water rate increases and various permutations of implementing affordable housing. Since I was coaching Wednesday morning, I fell asleep before the meeting adjourned. (No, I was not present in council chambers at the time.) I don’t think they ever got to discussion of the pool and ice facility.
But fear not! The topic is on the agenda for Tuesday, August 28. (See agenda item 11a) You can read the results of the feasibility study here that was prepared last fall.
The public is invited to speak on any topic (hint, hint), but you need to sign up prior to the meeting start. See the topic “Public invited to be heard” on this page for an explanation how it works.
