Work at Centennial pool hasn’t started yet. Read the (disappointing) update here.
Try a “back dab”
I love how coaches in this sport are always trying to figure out a new way to get the message across. I saw this video a couple days ago and it made me giggle.
Ideas for dealing with close quarters
Our last scheduled day at Sunset is currently Saturday, October 13. What happens after then? I don’t know.
It’s possible that morning masters gets some time at the Rec Center. But how many days? How many lanes? I don’t know. If I had to guess, the answers would be:
a) fewer than we get now, and
b) fewer than we get now.
So what can we do? I’m working on ideas for how we might be able to conduct fun and useful workouts with just 2 or 3 lanes. I’ll throw one out there to get the discussion going:
Use two lanes. Normal(-ish) warm-up using both lanes. Main set consists of 25 sprints in one lane, with recovery 25s in the second lane.
What is the most important aspect of a masters workout that you would like to see continue, in spite of time and space constraints? What do you think might work? Leave a suggestion in the comments.
Good luck to those IM’ers
Keep those happy thoughts rolling for Niki (bronze) and Zach (silver), who are competing in IM Chattanooga on Sunday, Sept 30. And good luck to Coach Steve as he spends the day chasing them down.

We have another week!
Sunset Pool will be open for at least another week, according to the city website. As of today, the close date for Sunset Pool is Sunday, October 14.
It really comes down to the weather. If the weather stays mild, we could get another extension. However, if the weather gets erratic or cooler, then the pool will close.
That means the last morning masters session is Saturday, October 13.
